3-3 - District Semi - Comstock 29 - Marshall 55

The varsity girls basketball team ended their season last night with a 29-55 loss to defending state champion Marshall.  The girls had an awesome season finishing 18-4.  Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Ahkyla Blakely chipped in 12 and had 7 rebounds.  The entire team did an awesome job throughout the season.  The Colts will regroup and look to do even better next season.

2-27 - District Quarter - Comstock 47 - Parchment 23

The varsity girls basketball team won their District Quarterfinal game last night vs Parchment 47-23.  The Colts played very well defensively holding the Panthers to single digits in every quarter.  Daisy Ansel led the way with 21 points and 6 rebounds.  Ahkyla Blakely scored some crucial points and finished with 12 points.  Abby House and Madelyn Caswell had 10 and 9 rebounds on the night.  The Colts will take on Marshall tomorrow night at 7:30 and would love a huge student section to cheer for them.

2-21 - Comstock 45 - Otsego 46


The varsity girls basketball team lost a tough one to Otsego 45-46.  We had a 4 point lead with 20 seconds to go.  Missed free throws and poor decisions on defense led to the loss.  Daisy Ansel had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Ahkyla Blakely had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

2-16 - Comstock 50 - Bridgman 28

The varsity girls basketball team won the BCS Championship with a win over Bridgman last night 50-28.  This is something that hasn't been done in 24 years and is a remarkable accomplishment for the girls.  Ahkyla Blakely led the way with 12 points but it was Kierra Lovelace who got us going by scoring our first 9 points of the game and finished with 11 points.  Daisy Ansel finished 8 points, 4 steals and 9 rebounds for the Colts.  Congrats to the entire team for a remarkable accomplishment.

2-14 - Comstock 54 - Paw Paw 32

The varsity girls basketball team moved their record to 16-2 with a convincing win over Paw Paw by the score of 54-32.  Daisy Ansel and Ahkyla Blakely led the Colts with 15 points each and Caylin continued her hot shooting by chipping in 11 points.  The Colts play Bridgman tomorrow night and a win secures at least a share of the BCS Conference Championship.

2-10 - Comstock 63 - Parchment 21

The varsity girls basketball team defeated Parchment 63-21 on Friday night.  All 10 girls scored in the event with Caylin Lopez leading the way with 17.  Daisy Ansel scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.  Ahkyla Blakely also had 12 points.  The team has a goal of holding opponents to less than 10 points in every quarter and they were able to hold Parchment to less than 10 points in every quarter of play.  The win moves the Colts 8-1 in conference play and with a win at Bridgman next week on Thursday, the Colts will have at least a share of the conference championship.

2-7 - Comstock 53 - Hackett 36


The varsity girls basketball team defeated Hackett 53-36.  The girls started out a little sluggish and were down 2 at the end of the 1st quarter.  The girls regrouped on the defensive end with Abby House taking over on Hackett's best player and holding her to 6 points the rest of the way.  Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 21 points and had 8 rebounds and 6 assists.  Caylin Lopez had another great night scoring 15 points and Ahkyla Blakely scored 8 points along with an astounding 17 rebounds and 6 assists.  The team is playing very well on the defensive end and is playing very unselfishly on the offensive end.  It's a lot of fun to watch these girls.

2-3 - Comstock 54 - Buchanan 33

The varsity girls basketball team moved their record to 13-2 after beating Buchanan convincingly on Friday night 54-33 to put themselves in line to capture their first Conference title in 24 years.  Wins vs Parchment this Friday and Bridgman next week will solidify the title.  Caylin Lopez lit things up with a season high 20 points including 4 3's.  Ahkyla Blakely filled the stat sheat narrowly missing a triple double with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.  Daisy Ansel was faceguarded throughout the night and still managed to chip in 13 points and grab 6 rebounds.  Abby House had the tall task of keeping their best scorer under control throughout the night and did a great job.  Miranda Cannon, Maddy Caswell, Marissa Vandyk, Kierra Lovelace, Kaylee Gilley and Arreona Blakely did an awesome job on the defensive end in our trap and half court defense to limit Buchanan to only 33 points.  Great job girls.

1-31 - Comstock 50 - Allegan 27

The varsity girls basketball team beat Allegan last night 50-27.  It was their best game of the year on defense holding the Tigers to only 6 points in the 1st half.  Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 13 points 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Ahkyla Blakely had 12 points and 4 steals.  Madelyn Caswell stepped up on the defensive end playing a little more physical.  It was great to see the instinctive rotations on drives and traps by all of the girls.  

1-26 - Comstock 51 - Berrien Springs 31

The varsity girls basketball team beat Berrien Springs 51-31 on Friday.  Caylin Lopez led the way with 12 points followed by Ahkyla Blakely with 10 and Kierra Lovelace with 9.  Daisy Ansel had 5 assists to go with 10 rebounds and Abby House had 4 assists to go with 7 rebounds.  Ahkyla Blakely had 3 steals and 9 rebounds.  It was great to see such a balanced scoring attack and overall effort from the girls.

1-23 - Comstock 33 - Buchanan 37

The varsity girls basketball team ended up on the losing end of a tight game.  The Colts had a 1 point lead with 1 minute left in the game and ended up losing 37-33.  The girls played hard throughout but missed some key opportunities.  Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 13 points and had 6 steals and 6 rebounds.  Ahkyla Blakely chipped in 11 and also had 7 rebounds. 

1-20 - Comstock 46 - Brandywine 38

The varsity girls basketball ran into a very tough Brandywine squad and won 46-38.  It was a tight game throughout until the Colts pulled away in the 4th quarter outscoring Brandywine 15-6.  Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 steals.  Ahkyla Blakely also had an outstanding night with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  Caylin Lopez came through in the clutch with 6 points in the 4th quarter to help extend the lead.  Great effort was given on the defensive end to close things out.  It was Brandywine's first loss on their home court in 8 years.  Great job girls!!!

1-17 - Comstock 41 - Schoolcraft 35


The varsity girls basketball team defeated Schoolcraft 41-35.  Madelyn Caswell got the Colts rolling with 5 of our 7 points in the 1st quarter and Caylin Lopez put the team on her back in the 2nd quarter by draining 3 straight 3's in less than a minute to push the lead out to 11 and the Colts would cruise from there.  Caylin finished with 12 points and Madelyn with 6 points.  It was great to see both girls step up when we needed them tonight.  Ahkyla Blakely also finished with 12 points and had 7 rebounds.  Daisy Ansel had a season high 15 rebounds and also had 4 assists.  We struggled at times on the offensive side of the floor but played good defensive to keep the Eagles in check.  

1-13 - Comstock 64 - Bridgman 23

The varsity girls basketball team continued their winning ways beating Bridgman 64-23 and improving their record to 8-1.  This Colts had a very balance scoring attack with Daisy Ansel, Kierra Lovelace, Ahkyla Blakely and Caylin Lopez scoring 15,14, 13 and 9 points.  Daisy also led the team with 8 steals and had 5 assists and 5 rebounds.  Ahkyla had 6 steals 4 assists and 6 rebounds and Abby House also had 5 steals.  Every member on the team had at least 1 steal and the team overall set a new school record with 27 steals in a game.

1-10 - Comstock 47 - Bronson 27

The varsity girls basketball kept things rolling with a 47-27 win vs Bronson last night.  It was a rough start to the game but the Colts regrouped at half time to explode for 23 points in the 3rd quarter.  Kierra Lovelace had a career high of 20 points hitting 4 3's.  Daisy Ansel chipped in 14 points and also collected 13 rebounds and had 5 steals.  Abby House also grabbed 9 rebounds.  Marissa Vandyk also played scrappy and hustled all over the floor and had 5 assists and 3 steals.  It was great to see Marissa Vandyk and Kierra Lovelace step up.  Ahkyla Blakely provided great composure and also grabbed 7 boards.  Miranda Cannon also did a great job keeping us organized in the half court trap.

12-23 - Comstock Parchment

12-20 - Comstock 65 - Kalamazoo Christian 52

The varsity girls basketball team moved their record to 5-1 with a victory over Kalamazoo Christian 65-52.  The girls did a great job on the offensive end of the floor scoring a season high 65.  Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 23 points which included 5 more 3's putting her season total to 26 and also grabbed 8 rebounds and had 4 assists.  Ahkyla Blakely also chipped in 13 points and had a season high 7 steals.  Abby House hit her 1st 2 3's of the season for a season high 8 points and also had 7 rebounds and 4 assists.  This was also our best night shooting free throws connecting on close to 70% of them with Kierra Lovelace and Marissa Vandyk going 8-10 together.  Kaylee Gilley had a couple of nice put back baskets on the evening too.  

12-13 - Comstock 57 - Gull Lake 66


The varsity girls basketball team had their first loss of the season losing to Gull Lake 66-57.  Ahkyla Blakely led the Colts with 22 points and had 7 rebounds.  Daisy Ansel chipped in 17 and led the team with 8 rebounds.  Abby House led the team with 7 assists.  Caylin Lopez also made 3 3's and finished 9 points and 3 steals.  The Colts played a tough game throughout the night but ultimately will have to get better on the defensive end of the floor to finish out these tough contests.

12-9 - Comstock 47 - Berrien Springs 29

The varsity girls basketball team pushed their record to 4-0 on the season by beating Berrien Springs 47-29 on Friday.  Daisy Ansel led the way with 25 points 8 rebounds and 5 assists.  Ahkyla Blakely also chipped in 10 points for the Colts.  Abby House grabbed 7 rebounds and Miranda Cannon came through with 5 great steals.  The girls are still coming together and our best basketball is still yet to come.  Go Colts!

12-6 - Comstock 50 - Hopkins 34

The varsity girls basketball team played their best 1st quarter to date jumping out to a 16-4 lead and then cruised to a 50-34 victory over Hopkins.  Dasiy Ansel led all scorers with 19 points and also contributed 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals.  Ahkyla Blakely also recorded a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.  The girls did a great job applying pressure and anticipating the next pass in the 1st quarter.  Abby House had some timely steals (4) and assists (3) and Miranda Cannon & Kaylee Gilley ripped down some good rebounds for us as well.

12-2 - Comstock 47 - Brandywine 38


The varsity girls basketball team defeated Brandywine 47-38 on Friday night.  The girls had a tough first half but were able to put things together in the 2nd half to pull out a 9 point win.  Ahkyla Blakely led all scorers with 14 points and Daisy Ansel added 13 points and 8 rebouns.  Caylin Lopez chipped 9 crucial points as well.  Miranda Cannon and Maddy Caswell had nice baskets in the 4th quarter to help us pull away.

11-29 - Comstock 51 - Vicksburg 43

The varsity girls basketball team beat Vicksburg last night 51-43.  The Colts controlled the game from the tip but Vicksburg was able to keep it somewhat close on timely shooting.  Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 18 points and Ahkyla Blakely and Caylin Lopez added 17 and 10.  Abby House led the team in rebounds with 9.  We still have things to work on but it was nice to see certain things clicking in the first game of the season.  Caylin Lopez had some timely 3's in the first half and Miranda Cannon had some nice steals in the half court trap.
