5th Grade Classes Return to Elementary Schools

At the February 26, 2018 Board of Education meeting, the board approved moving 5th grade back to the elementary buildings. Comstock's Superintendent, Todd Mora, made the recommendation for several reasons:

• Research suggests that transitioning buildings can have a detrimental effect on students academic, emotional and behavioral performance at school.

• The upcoming construction project at NEMS will require classroom flexibility. Having this year’s 4th grade students remain at their elementary building for the 2018-19 school year will provide the needed room flexibility.

• A parent survey of current 4th grade students showed a majority of parents support having their 4th grade students remain at their elementary buildings.

Comstock's Superintendent is actively working with the Administrative Team on the planning and logistics of having the current 4th graders remain at North and Green Meadow Elementary for the 2018-19 school year as 5th graders.
