Sam Rabick Scores a Perfect 36

Sam Rabick, a junior at Comstock High School, has earned the rare distinction of scoring a "perfect" 36 on the ACT test!

While not unheard of — a school in Ohio counted 21 students with a 36 on the ACT this year — it certainly is uncommon. Based on 2018 figures, just under 2 million students took the ACT; of those, just 3,700 earned a 36. This amounts to about 0.2% of all test-takers.

Sam offered this statement regarding his accomplishment:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Comstock community for all the support it has given me throughout my life. Every one of my teachers — from kindergarten with Ms. Kellam to AP US History with Mr. Van Niman — have gone above and beyond to provide a constructive classroom environment dedicated to seeing all of their students, including me, excel. The STEM Academy, in particular, helped prepare me for a rigorous high school career through its accelerated curricula. The STEM Academy also fostered my interest in programming, leading me to seek out local FIRST robotics team, Strykeforce. The support of my teachers and a wonderfully accommodating administration allowed me to seek further academic pursuits in ATYP, KAMSC, and dual enrollment. Instrumental in facilitating these opportunities was CHS’s post-secondary dean, Mr. Cotter.

Comstock also encouraged me to become a well-rounded person. My soccer coach, Mr. Ansel, and marching band director, Mr. Fritz, both worked with me so that I could participate in their programs, while recognizing that academics had to come first. I would also like to express my deep appreciation for Comstock High School not being an 80s movie cliche where the nerdy kid gets shoved into a locker; that is to say that my peer group and the student culture of Comstock have been wonderfully friendly and encouraging throughout my entire educational experience. Finally I would like to thank my family for supporting me in everything I do and inspiring me to be the best version of myself. I hope to continue pursuing my passion for STEM into college and in a related career.

Go Colts!

Congratulations, Sam! We can't wait to see what you'll do next!
