2020 School Closure Lunch ProgramComstock Public Schools is pleased to announce that we will be setting up food distribution sites as part of the Unanticipated School Closure (part of the Summer Food Program).

Each of the sites will be distributing free meals to any child in Kalamazoo County aged 18 or younger, as well as any special needs adults aged 26 or under who are part of an educational program.

We will be distributing a free grab-and-go lunch for that day and a grab-and-go breakfast for the next day, at the same time. Distribution will be either by drive-in or walk-up service, and any adult or child may pick up the free meals. You do not have to be a student of Comstock Schools to participate in the meal pickup.

We are also able to provide meals for Saturdays and Sundays, so on Fridays children will receive a breakfast and lunch for those days too. Because of this emergency closure some of the rules regarding this meal distribution have been relaxed. The meals must be taken home to be eaten and there is no eating at the sites.

All sites will be operating Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. starting on Tuesday March 17th and running through Friday April 3rd.

Site 1: Comstock High School in the bus loop
Site 2: Compass High School in the front loop off Gull Road
Site 3: Celery Street Park – Comstock Township
Site 4: Pavilion Estates – See below

Pavilion Estates has moved from a single pick-up point to distribution of meals by driving up and down the streets in the community.

We ask that residents wait for the vehicle to reach the front of their home, then come out to get the meals for the children in their home. Children may also come to the street or sidewalk to get their own meals.

The management is asking residents to still practice safe distancing, and not crowd the vehicle, or drive up to us for service. We will run this program beginning at 11:30am, until we hit each street.

Some residents think they cannot come out of their home, which is incorrect information. They can come out to get the food, then return to their yard.
