Comstock Public Schools’ Board of Education unanimously approved honoring the legacy of Comstock’s former superintendent, Dr. Robert Hamet, by naming the athletic fields the Robert P. Hamet Athletic Complex. A committee has been formed to raise the funds needed to construct an entrance highlighting the name, and we need your help in turning our well-designed plan into a reality.

Dr. Hamet, who was affectionately referred to as "Dr. Bob," served as Comstock’s superintendent for 25 years, from 1976 until his retirement in 2001. Dr. Bob understood the importance of preparing students academically but also recognized that children needed to have the opportunity to participate in the arts and athletics. To that end, he always served as a champion and supporter for those programs.

As we looked at ways to memorialize the legacy of Dr. Bob, it only seemed fitting to name the athletic complex in his honor, so that his generosity and commitment to the community will have a permanent imprint.

Our goal is to raise $10,000, which will be used for signage and to enhance the appearance of this entryway into the athletic facilities. We are able to keep costs relatively low as community members and others who knew, remembered, and respected Dr. Bob are donating their time and talent. We are anticipating that the project will be completed by late summer 2021.

Tax-deductible donations can be made through the Comstock Public Schools Foundation using the PayPal link below:
