I grew up one city over in Battle Creek, where I attended Pennfield schools. During that time, I found my love for the arts. I participated in every music ensemble they had to offer. I then went to Kellogg Community College where I continued to study music and found an interest in black and white photography. I transferred to Olivet College where I received my degree in music education. During my internship with Olivet we spent part of our time at Sherman Lake YMCA learning about character development, classroom management, and building relationships.

I spent the next three years working year round at Sherman Lake YMCA. I started as a day camp counselor and later took on a larger variety of jobs. While there I worked with the school groups from the local public schools, lifeguarded, supported retreat groups, was a high rope instructor, and administrative assistant. This time showed me how much I wanted to have a classroom to share for a whole year with my students. While working there, I started to earn my endorsement through Western Michigan University in elementary education. Upon completion of that program, I started my first teaching position. I am currently working on a Masters in Arts of Reading instruction, and will finish here in January!

This will be my twelfth year teaching and third with Comstock. Most of my time has been spent teaching kindergarten with a couple of years in upper elementary.
My family and I live here in Comstock, and my children attend school here as well. My husband and I have two very active kids, Jaime and Hazel, who keep us on our toes.

I look forward to working with all the families here at the STEM Academy.
