Shane Easter
Class of 2017
You’d be hard pressed to find many people in the Comstock or Kalamazoo area who hadn’t heard of Shane Easer during his time here. A gifted three sport athlete, a dedicated student, and most importantly, an outstanding person, Shane’s impact was undeniable. Both on and off the field, Shane was recognized as a gifted, dependable, trustworthy individual and was sought-after as a friend and mentor. Shane made time to talk to or lend a hand to just about anyone who asked. His friends counted on Shane to do what was right, to do it in a way that promised to make things better, and to do it with the joyful and selfless spirit that marked him. He made every team, every class, every endeavor better. For those of us who had the opportunity to watch Shane compete, to run the bases, the field, the court, with grace, power and purpose, to watch how he has lived his life, this nomination into the Comstock High School Hall of Fame is no surprise and serves as a small gesture of thanks to an extraordinary member of the Comstock family. I know Shane’s parent’s and family, especially grandparents Syd and Bob, along with his teammates, classmates, friends and those of us who got to share in his time here, join me in saying, Congratulations. We are so proud of you.
Voted Most Outstanding Athlete of Comstock in 2017 by the Comstock Coaching Staff, Shane earned 4 Tri-Athlete Awards, 12 Varsity Letters and 9 All-Conference 1st Team Awards. He was named as a Team Captain 8 times. An active member of the National Honor Society, in 2017 Shane was selected to the MHSBCA All-Star team. The game, featuring the best players in the state, was played at Comerica Park, and Shane was chosen as the game’s MVP.
