Former Comstock High School administrator Mike McGovern once opened a faculty meeting and proclaimed a successful start to a school year emanates from a strong football team as the students, staff, and community positively react and become involved. The 1979 team completed an undefeated season, won the school’s second consecutive Wolverine Conference Championship, and furthered a winning streak to 13 games. Our fan base at away games outnumbered opponent’s home following, and the last weeks of our season students were coming to practices to watch. They were the team of “Blue Pride” and are most worthy of recognition in the Comstock Athletic Hall of Fame.
