11-3 - MHSAA States at MIS
Today was the day Aiden Woods was waiting for, for his entire Comstock XC career. A chance to leave it all out there at the State meet. As the race kicked off Aiden went all out, coming through the first mile quickly at 5:20. As he crossed the 2 mile marker at a good time he knew he had a pr coming. Approaching the curve of the racetrack, about 400 meters from the finish he pushed himself as hard as he could and he came away with exactly his goal for the race. He finished his high school career with a new PR of 17:59, 28 seconds faster than his previous! Amazing career from the senior himself Aiden Woods!
10-25 - MHSAA Regionals at
Portage West
The Comstock XC team competed
at Portage West Middle for its regional meet. It was a freezing cold morning
for the girls as they set off for their race at 9:30am. All the girls raced
well and I'm super proud of the two seniors Trinity Hagenbuch and Ereni
Polhamus as they finished off their high school XC career. For the boys at 11am
it warmed it quite a bit. All three senior boys had great races with Brody
Woolsey tying his PR and Aiden Woods coming in with a 1 second PR. To top it
all off, that 1 second PR proved to be enough as Aiden Woods qualified for the
state meet! Once again super proud of all three senior boys for their efforts
this season and we all look forward to cheering on Aiden Woods next Saturday at
MIS.
10-18 - Gobles
Invitational
Comstock XC ran at the Gobles
Invite on a beautiful morning. The course proved to be a challenge for all the
runners. Consistent rolling hills through the backwoods by Gobles High school
made the course a tough one for all. Through the adversity the team still came
away with some good times as we tune up next week in preparation for the last
regular season meet, regionals at Portage West.
10-16 - White Pigeon
Invitational
It was a great day for the
Comstock XC team on a cool Thursday afternoon in White Pigeon. The team came
away with four new personal bests and a season best! Starting off Trinity
Hagenbuch secured a new PR of 27:22 while Ereni Polhamus got a new season record
of 26:46. On the boys side, all three boys that ran earned new personal bests!
Starting off Aiden Woods ran a blistering 18:28. Following up Brody Woolsey ran
a 20:44 and Teegan Hagenbuch secured a 21:28. Overall a fantastic meet for the
Colts!
10-11 - Bloomingdale
Invitational
The Colts attended the
Bloomingdale Invitational on a brisk Saturday morning. The course layout is the
most unique the kids ran on all year with them entering the woods from the
start and not coming back out until 200 meters before the finish line. The whole
team ran great with almost everyone getting super close to either a PR or
season record. With two more meets to go before regionals, we have entered into
the championship portion of the season!
10-8 - SW10 Jamboree #3
The Comstock Cross Country
team ended the conference season with the final meet at Lawrence High School.
The super flat course led to an incredible day for the Colt runners. To start
it off on the girls side Ereni Polhamus and Trinity Hagenbuch came away with
new season records and Brenda Hummel ran a new personal best of 30:14. On the
boys side, Aiden Woods cruised to another PR of 18:33! To top it all off the
conference celebrated and honored who earned first team and second team all
conference. For the Colts, Sydney Woods and Aiden Woods both received SW10
First Team Honors! It was a fantastic meet for Comstock.
10-4 - Allegan Invitational
The Comstock Cross Country
team raced in the morning at the Allegan County Fairgrounds for the Allegan
Invite and put together a strong overall performance. Leading the highlights,
Nadia Sivley earned a new personal record with a 28:59! Progress is continuing
to be made all across the team!
10-2 - Allegan Meet
The Comstock Cross Country
team travelled to Allegan County Fairgrounds to race in an exhibition duel
against the Allegan Tigers. This unscored meet gave us a great chance to race
on the course and gain good information before heading back on Saturday to race
again when it counts at the Allegan Invitational.
9-27 - Bulldog Invitational
The Comstock cross country
team competed at the Bulldog Invite on a warm day, but the heat didn’t stop
them from putting together some great performances on this extremely flat
course.. Aiden Woods led the way with a new personal record of 18:43, cutting
15 seconds off his previous best. Sydney Woods also had a standout day, setting
a new PR of 24:02, 12 seconds faster than her previous record. Brenda Hummel
finished off the meet with a solid new season record, rounding out an awesome
showing for the team at the Bulldog Invitational.
9-24 - SW10 Jamboree #2 at
Comstock
For our seniors that ran,
Trinity Hagenbuch, Ereni Polhamus, and Aiden Woods, it was their last time
racing the home course at Comstock. Nerves were definitely there as they took
the start line for the last time at home. All three of the seniors gave it everything
and came away with some pretty good times! Very proud of everything these
seniors have put into the team and themselves.
9-20 - Bangor Invitational
The Comstock Colts attended
the Bangor Invitational on Saturday which showcases a pretty unique course that
weaves in and out of the woods alongside Bangor High School. The entire team
ran well and today's meet was another great day that will help us progress as a
team!
9-17 - Parchment Classic
The Colts took a quick drive
to the other side of time to race at the Parchment Classic. The heat was
intense but the team proved resilient and ran some solid times. Aiden Woods
broke through the 20 minute mark for the first time this season and hopes to
never look back. Jayveonn Buchanan came out for his first ever XC race and came
in at 26:16. Very impressive for his first race!
9-10 - SW10 Jamboree #1
Centreville
The Colts competed in the
first SW10 Jamboree of the year at Centreville. It was a pretty straight
forward course weaving through their athletic fields. The team ran pretty well
and the girls team ended up coming in 5th which is good to be in the top half
of all the SW10 teams!
9-24 - Hartford Teske
Invitational
The Comstock Cross Country team
competed at the Hartford Teske Meet held at the Van Buren Fairgrounds. The team
handled the hilly course well, showing great effort throughout their races. A
standout performance came from Daisy Fraizer, who achieved a massive 6-minute
personal record, cutting her time down to 31:54. Great job to the entire team
for pushing hard on a tougher course!
8-26 - Barney Roy
Invitational
The Comstock Cross Country team
had a strong showing at Turkeyville on a cool afternoon. The athletes took
advantage of the nice weather and showed up with some great performances!
Brenda Hummel and Aiden Woods both secured a new season record while Brody
Woolsey achieved a new personal best with a time of 21:45. It was a great meet
that highlighted the teams work and progress so far during the season.
8-19 - Three Rivers Big
Hill Invitational
The Comstock Cross Country team
competed at the Three Rivers Bill Hill Invite, facing one of the toughest
courses of the season. With a massive hill right in the middle, the race was a
struggle for everyone. Despite the challenging conditions, each Comstock runner
gave their best effort and pushed through to finish strong. It was only the
team’s second meet of the season, and they showed great grit and perseverance
throughout the race.
8-15 - Jim Carey Early Bird
The Comstock varsity Cross
Country Team opened up the season running in the Jim Carey Early Bird at
Lawrence High School. The usual first race jitters and heat made the meet a
difficult one for all the athletes. Despite that, the team raced well and used
this very early meet to shake off those nerves and establish a good baseline to
improve on as the season progresses!
