Robert Bellisle

Robert Bellisle

Class of 1943

Bob Bellisle graduated from Comstock High School in 1943 having earned 17 varsity letters for football, basketball, baseball, track and tennis, which is a CHS record that still stands today. He also was, and is, a talented singer and musician. He sang and played with a trio called “The Diamond Trio” in high school. They won a talent show award and got to perform at the WLS Barn Dance in Chicago one weekend. After his discharge from the Army, he operated his business called Bellisle Cut Rate in Parchment. Always with Bob in the community was his dog Laddie, who followed him everywhere. At one football game, Laddie entered the game to be with Bob. The game was delayed until Laddie was taken home. Among his many accolades, the best yet is that he married his high school sweetheart (my sister Gail). Beverly Dantone

When I think of my grandpa, Bob Bellisle, I remember sipping cherry cokes on swivel seats while he played a tune for me on the sinks. Grandpa Bob and Grandma Gail owned and operated Bellisle’s in Parchment for 57 years. Their soda fountain/variety store gave neighbors a relaxing spot to have a piece of pie and talk baseball. Grandpa’s witty charm always made you laugh and leave with a smile. It sill does. He has been and continues to be the heart and soul of his community. The love and support he has shared with so many of us over the years makes him a man of character and a hall of famer in my book! Nick Keene
