Bernie Vallier

Bernie Vallier

Class of 1964

I was aware of Bernie’s high school accomplishments even though he graduated eight years after I graduated. I remained in the area and was always interested in the various positive exploits of Comstock student/athletes. It wasn’t until the two of us found ourselves on the coaching staff at KVCC that I felt I began to know Bernie. Knowledge, humor and passion are the qualities that epitomize Bernie. Clearly, all of the above make Bernie a most worthy member of the Comstock High School Athletic Hall of Fame.- Jim Van Zandt

Bernie’s career has been saturated with his character. He is a man of integrity. He is a tireless, humble worker. He has a genuine knack for establishing solid coach/player relationships and then proceeding to assist those under his leadership in their growth and development. - Dick Shilts

Bernie has consistently “walked the walk” and demonstrated a great work ethic while consistently giving of his time and energy to make those around him the best they can be. His character and integrity represent the “best of the best”. - Brian Philson

Along with his well-documented successful coaching career, Bernie also dedicated over 20 years of his life to working with at-risk and under-privileged youth at the Kalamazoo County Family Court and Juvenile Home. He approached his position as Asst. Superintendent of the Juvenile Home with the same passion and dedication he once demonstrated as a teammate of championship teams at Comstock HS.- Tom Noble
