Larry VallierLarry Vallier

Class of 1966

It was a pretty exciting time as a young boy growing up in Comstock during the development of a very competitive and respected athletic program.  Little did anyone know that Larry would make such a contribution to the rich athletic history with his play and accomplishments.  Larry is a 1966 graduate who really provided a big chapter in the quality of CHS athletics, specifically basketball.  He was a prime catalyst in the 1966 championship team and scoring champ in all of the Kalamazoo area.  This distinction was followed by his career at Judson College where he again excelled and established records that are still on the books.  After 50 years, he is still recognized as one of their best athletes of all time.  Things really took a major move in Larry’s life when he went into the Army in 1969.  He was selected to attend Military School and became a Military Policeman.  He met his wife Judy while stationed in Carlisle, PA and eventually settled in Halifax, PA.  Here he began an illustrious and very successful coaching career at Halifax High School.  His no-nonsence approach to teaching the game of basketball and life lessons has benefited many Halifax athletes.  It has always been an honor to be a Colt, and to be recognized by others enhances this feeling even more.  We, the Vallier family, have always been proud of Larry and his accomplishments, and recognizing him for this award just emphasizes that pride. - Bernie Vallier
