10-16 - MHSAA District Semi - Comstock 1 - Lakewood 3

Congratulations to the Comstock boys soccer season on a terrific season. Although the Colts found themselves on the wrong side of a 3 - 1 game, they had plenty of reasons to be proud. The game was well played with two evenly matched teams. The Hunter Vorva opened scoring by pouncing on a rebound and placing it into the back of the net. The defense, led by Mason Groll and Brad Mayne, played a very strong game keeping Lakewood at bay for most of the night. Although the season came to an end with this second round loss in districts, the team played some fantastic soccer.

10-14 - MHSAA District Quarter - Comstock 4 - Maple Valley 0

Congratulations to the Comstock soccer team for winning their opening game of districts. The Colts thoroughly dominated a 4 - 0 win against Maple Valley. Skylar Rizzolo made 7 saves en route to a shut out. Hunter Vorva scored two goals. Ethan Barber recorded a goal and an assist. Saleh Hasan scored a goal off a great pass from Gabe Balderamas.

10-9 - Comstock 0 - Three Rivers 1

The Comstock soccer team lost to Three Rivers by a score of 1 - 0. Both teams played very strong defense which made for a tight game throughout. Late in the second half Jeramie Herwick made a great run with the ball and took a good shot that, unfortunately, hit the cross bar.

10-7 - Comstock 1 - Coloma 9

The soccer team lost to Coloma. The lone Comstock goal was scored by Hunter Vorva after combining with Vlad Promskyy and Garrett Green. Jeramie Herwick did a great job leading the team and instructing his teammates throughout the game.

10-3 - Comstock 0 - Delton 4

The Comstock soccer team lost to Delton Kellogg by a score of 4 - 0. Ethan Barber played a strong game plugging holes wherever needed. Brad Clements had a great game offensively and defensively.

10-2 - Comstock 1 - Otsego 7

The Comstock soccer team played a tough game against Otsego last night. Although the game ended as loss for the Colts, they played a strong game until the end. Ulises Del Moral scored the goal of the season for the Colts. Ulises won the ball in the midfield dribbled into open space and, from about 25 yards out, launched a rocket of a shot into the upper corner of the net.

9-30 - Comstock 0 - Plainwell 8

The Comstock soccer team lost a tough game to Plainwell last night. Despite being behind on the scoreboard, the Colts fought hard until the final whistle. Mason House started his first varsity soccer game at goalie, making 11 saves in the process. Hunter Vorva proved to be a jack-of-all-trades as he played Forward, Midfield, and Defense before the final whistle had been blown.

9-27 - Comstock 5 - Gobles 2

After a sloppy first half the Colts' soccer team found themselves behind, by a score of 2 - 1, in a game against Gobles. The team responded in the second half by playing some great soccer. In the last 40 minutes, the team scored four unanswered goals. The end result was a 5 - 2 win away from home. Hunter Vorva led the stat line tonight by scoring four of the five goals. Saleh Hasan contributed one goal while assisting on three of the others. Manuel Maier contributed a beautiful assist as well. Mason Groll led a defense that only allowed one shot on goal in the entire second half.

9-25 - Comstock 0 - Allegan 2

The Colts' soccer team played a great game last night. The team faced off with Allegan and played a very tightly contested, evenly played, match. After 40 minutes of play the teams found themselves deadlocked in a 0 - 0 tie. The tight play continued for the remainder of the game. Although Comstock eventually lost a 2 - 0 game, the team played an all-around great game. Skylar Rizzolo had an impressive game in goal by making 18 saves. Manuel Maier played his best game of the season in the midfield while Brad Mayne provided a consistent steadying force in the defense.

9-23 - Comstock 0 - Paw Paw 8

The Colts soccer team lost a tough game to Paw Paw. Despite falling behind early the boys refused to give up and fought hard until the end. Skylar Rizzolo did a good job of patrolling his box and scooping anything within reach. Ethan Barber and Hunter Vorva both played a great 2-way game.

9-19 - Comstock 4 - Parchment 3

The Comstock boys soccer team beat Parchment by a score of 4 - 3. Saleh Hasan scored all four goals for the Colts.

9-16 - Comstock 2 - Coloma 2

The Colts boys soccer team squared off against Coloma last night. Saleh Hasan continued his hot streak by scoring 2 more goals. The goals were assisted beautifully by Vlad Promskyy and Hunter Vorva. Skylar Rizzolo made 15 saves on 17 shots. By the time the final whistle had blown the Colts scraped out a scrappy 2 - 2 tie with an evenly matched foe. The tie improves the team record on the season to 4 wins, 2 losses, and 3 ties.

9-13 - Comstock 6 - Kalamazoo Christian 2

The guys soccer team cruised to a 6 - 2 victory against Kalamazoo Christian. Congratulations to Saleh Hasan for breaking the Comstock High School single game goal scoring record by scoring five goals in the game. Ethan Barber had a strong two-way game while contributing a goal as well. Despite Saleh breaking an individual record, this truly was a team effort as three different players contributed an assist. Skylar Rizzolo also had a very strong game in goal as he made 12 saves.

9-11 - Comstock 4 - Vicksburg 5 OT

The Colts' soccer team played a barnburner of a game last night against Vicksburg. After a sloppy start the team responded to score twice in the second half. With the whistle blown to end the second half, the team found itself tied 3 -3. That meant overtime. The Colts endured another 20 minutes of overtime before the outcome was decided. Although the Colts lost 5 - 4 to Vicksburg, they put on an absolute show. The Colts gave everything they had for 100 minutes, and refused to back down. A lot of players deserve recognition including Garrett Green (who very rarely made the wrong decision), Saleh Hasan (who scored twice), and Mason House (who got his first career varsity soccer goal).

9-9 - Comstock 2 - Bangor 2

The guys soccer team played to a 2 - 2 tie with Bangor. Hunter Vorva and Saleh Hasan each scored a goal for the Colts. When the game was over the team had played to a very well-earned tie.

Congratulations to Ulises Del Moral
High School Athlete of the Week For Week Ending 9/7/13

9-5 - Comstock 6 - Bloomingdale 3

The Colts guys soccer team beat Bloomingdale by a score of 6 - 3. This truly was a team effort as 4 of the 6 goals were assisted. This team effort, however, was highlighted by some individual brilliance. Special recognition goes to Ulises Del Moral who broke a Comstock Boys Soccer record by scoring 4 goals in the game (while also adding an assist).

9-4 - Comstock 0 - Dowagiac 2

The Comstock soccer team went toe-to-toe with Dowagiac. The game turned out to be an even match as both teams exchanged chances on goal. Although the game ended up as a 2 - 0 loss for the colts there was certainly nothing to hang their heads about. Every player gave everything they had, but special recognition deserves to go to Mason Groll and Bryan Moore who anchored the defense while playing every minute of a physically challenging game.

8-30 - Comstock 1 - Pennfield - 1

8-28 - Comstock 4 - Galesburg-Augusta 2

After finding themselves in a 2 - 0 hole at halftime the Colts dug deep and played their best soccer to date. This truly was a team effort as the ball was zipped around the field with short smart passes. By dominating possession and working the ball around the Colts were able to tie the game after getting two goals from Saleh Hasan. Mere minutes later the Colts had a two goal lead after goals from Ulises Del Moral and Garrett Green. That was enough for the defense as they rode that scoreline for a 4 - 2 win.

8-26 - Comstock 3 - Three Rivers 1

With the game tied 1 - 1 for most of the game and only 20 minutes remaining, Hunter Vorva broke the deadlock with a nice finish close to goal. A few minutes later Saleh Hasan put the game to rest by scoring another great goal. After that the defense was more than able to see out the end of the game for a well-deserved 3 - 1 win. Ulises Del Moral scored the first goal and Vlad Promskyy added three assists for the Colts.
