3-2 - Comstock 31 - Plainwell 47

The freshmen boys basketball team started strong last night in their game against Plainwell. After the first quarter they were up 18-11. Unfortunately they gave up five threes in the second quarter to trail 29-21 at halftime. They ended up losing 47-31 giving up two more threes in the second half. Dylan McFarlen played a solid game scoring 8 points and leading us in rebounding. The young Colts ended the season with a very fine 13-7 record and 8-2 in the conference. Coach Low was very pleased with their improvement this year and enjoyed coaching them. 

2-25 - Comstock 47 - Brandywine 25

The Freshmen boys basketball team improved to 13-6 overall and 8-2 in league play by defeating Niles Brandywine 47-25.  This is the seventh time this season that the team has held an opponent under 30 points. They have also held an opponent under 40 points 6 times. Ty Robinson and Marcus Cannon especially played lock down defense. Ty held his man to 1 point, who was the leading scorer the last time the two teams played. Marcus played excellent post defense and outscored his man 17-4. He was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Vernard Whitehead and Raekwon Little also scored in double figures with 10 points apiece. Marcus was our leading rebounder with 5 boards. RaeKwon lead us in steals with 4. The team had 16 steals. The team only committed 5 turnovers. The team steadily built their lead as Coach Low used a two platoon system in the first half. The last game of the year is Tuesday, at Plainwell. The team looks forward to trying to win their fourteenth game of the year. Their mantra for the year has been "together we can".

2-18 - Comstock 50 - Bridgman 26

The freshmen boys basketball team won their 12th game of the season beating Bridgman 50-26. This is the fifth time this season the team has held an opponent below 30 points.Nine players scored for the young Colts with Dylan McFarlen leading the way with 11 points. Dylan and Brandon Willis lead us in rebounding with 6 apiece. The team had 31 rebounds on the night. We also had 20 steals With Raekwon Little leading the way with 4 steals.Ty'Quaivion Robinson and Marcus Cannon were very effective on our presses. Amazingly the team only had 1 turnover. Coach Low used a 2 platoon system last night and was very pleased with how each group played team ball and encouraged each other. Our next game is next Thursday which is our last home game against Niles Brandywine. We are currently 7-2 in league play and this will also be our last league game.Please come out and support the freshmen in this rivalry game. It is a 4:30pm. start.

2-16 - Comstock 53 - Paw Paw 51


Marcus Cannon was the player of the game last night as he lead the freshmen boys basketball team to an exciting 53-51 victory over Paw Paw. Their record now improves to 11-6. Marcus had 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 1 steal last night. More importantly he went a perfect 4-4 at the free throw stripe in the last 2 minutes to let us never lose the lead. Raekwon Little and Vernard Whitehead had 16 and 10 points respectively. Brandon Willis had a crucial put back  rebound in the last minute to give us a three point lead. Our next game is Thursday at home against Bridgmen. It is a league game and we play at 6pm.

2-11 - Comstock 54 - Parchment 38


The freshmen boys basketball team won their tenth game of the season by beating Parchment 54-38. Once again team defense and team play were the keys to victory. thirteen times this season we have held a team below 40 points. In addition our strong conditioning paid off as we outscored Parchment 16-2 in the second quarter and 18-9 in the fourth quarter.The players followed the game plan and made 16 of 28 free throws. In addition we only committed 2 fouls in the first half and only seven for the game. An adjustment was made to move Marcus Cannon into the post and it paid huge dividends turning the game around. Once again going to a three guard offense for speed and defense was very effective. Brandon Willis continues to play outstanding basketball at the three position. Raekwon Little once again had an outstanding game with 21 points, 3 rebounds,3 steals and 1 block. This game he did it coming off the bench. Raekwon was also a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line.  Ty Robinson and Marcus Cannon were also in double figures with 10 points apiece. Marcus went to the line 10 times making 6. Vernard Whitehead ran the offense very effectively and played lock down defense on their leading scorer, holding him to half of his average, while scoring 7 points himself. Marcus Cannon was our leading rebounder. Brandon Willis had his thirteenth game this year where he has had at least one block. Our next game is Tuesday February 16th,at home against Paw Paw. The team appreciated the big crowd we had for the game today. We hope to see you again on Tuesday. We also play at home next Thursday.

2-9 - Comstock 59 - Hackett 69

The freshmen boys basketball team gave once defeated Hackett all they could handle last night dropping a 59-69 decision. Once again team play was at the heart of the effort as 9 of 10 players scored and the bench totaled 22 points. The young Colts outscored the Irish in the second half 40-34. Three players scored in double figures for us with Raekwon Little leading the way with 18 points. Brandon Willis and Ty'Quaivion Robinson each had 10 points with Brand hitting two 3's. The team shot a season best 5 for twelve from behind the arc for 42%. We were also a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Marcus Canon and Dylan McFarlen had 5 rebounds a piece to lead the team. Marcus also had a tremendous hustle play with a block to prevent a layup. Raekwon Little and Brandon Willis each had 2 steals. Brandon Willis also had a block. Adrian White and Nick Rupe played very well off the bench scoring 5 points a piece and playing great floor games. Our next game is Thursday at home against Parchment. Come out and watch this exciting team play as they go for their tenth win of the season.

2-5 - Comstock 46 - Buchanan 31

The freshmen boys basketball team was defeated Friday night by Buchanan 46-31. The Young Colts fell behind early by 11 points and battled back several times to a four point deficit but ultimately couldn't overcome the early deficit. Their record now stands at 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the league. Marus Cannon was our leading scorer with 11 points. Vernard Whitehead chipped in with 9 points. Our leading rebounder was Dylan McFarlen with 8. RaeKwon Little had 4 steals and Marcus Cannon had 3 blocks. We now have 5 home games in a row at home. We have two big games this week. Tuesday we play a Hackett team who currently has one lose this year and on Thursday we play our big rival Parchment, who we beat earlier in an overtime game. We are looking forward to both games and strong fan support.

2-4 - Comstock 60 - Centreville 29

The freshmen boys basketball team improved to 9-4 on the season by defeating Centreville 60-29. Once again team play and defense carried the day. All nine players scored. Nick Rupe played extremely well off the bench scoring 8 points, which included two 3's. Nick also had 1 rebound, 1 steal and one block. Dylan McFarlen was our leading rebounder with 9 boards. Raekwon Little lead us in steals with 6. Brandon Willis lead us in blocks with 3. Our team totals were 27 rebounds,13 steals, 6 blocks and only 6 turnovers. We were 19 of 62 from 2 point range and 3 for 9 from 3 point range. Marcus Cannon lead us in scoring with 14 points. Marcus was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line and has now made 11 in a row over the past 3 games. In addition to Marcus, Adrian White and Raekwon Little had 9 points each. Dylan McFarlen had 8, Vernard Whitehead had 6 points with no turnovers running the point. Ty Robinson had 4 points and Noah Jackson and Brandon Little had 1 point each. Our next game is tomorrow night at Buchanan. Both teams are 5-1 in league play.

2-2 - Comstock 68 - Allegan 21


The Freshmen boys basketball team used a two platoon system last night and it worked very well resulting in a 68-21 win against Allegan.It is the third time the young Colts have held an opponent below 30 points and the ninth time below 40 points. The team had 28 rebounds, 15 steals, 9 blocks and only 7 turnovers.We shot 23 of 51 from 2 point range for 45% and 5 of 7 from 3 point range for 71%. Four different players made 3's with Brandon Willis making two. Dylan McFarlen was our leading rebounder with 10 boards. Ty'Quaivion Robinson lead us in steals with 4. Raekwon Little, Brandon Willis and Marcus Cannon each had 2 blocks apiece. All ten of our players scored. Raekwon Little had 12, Brandon Willis 11, Marcus Cannon 9, Ty Robinson 8, Brandon Blades 6, Nick Rupe 4, Adrian White and Dylan McFarlen had 3 each. Coach Low was very pleased with the execution at both ends of the floor and the team work, effort and support showed by the players towards each other. Our next game is Thursday away, at Centreville.

1-28 - Comstock 46 - Berrien Springs 37

For the 8th time this season the freshmen boys held an opponent under 40 points. It was the key to victory tonight, against Berrien Springs 46-37. The win avenged an early season 2pt. lose to Berrien. The young Colts held them to 10 fewer points tonight than their first meeting. The team now improves to 7-4 and 5-1 in the league. They are tied for first in the league. Once again team play and balanced scoring were also keys. Seven of our 9 players scored who played. Using a rotation that subs off the clock we had 2 players that were another key to victory. Brandon Willis and Brandon Blades played outstanding ball. Both played lock down defense. BW had three key buckets and again handled the ball flawlessly. BB along with Raekwon Little held their leading scorer at halftime with 9 points, scoreless the second half. Marcus Cannon was our leading rebounder with 7. Raekwon had 3 steals to lead us in steals. Brandon Willis and Marcus Cannon had 2 blocks apiece. The team had 17 rebounds, 13 steals, 4 blocks and amazingly only  3 turnovers. Vernard Whitehead and Raekwon Little had 10 points each. Ty Robinson had 8 points, Marcus Cannon 7, Dylan McFarlen 4 and Brandon Blades 1. Our next game is next Tuesday, at home, against Allegan.

1-26 - Comstock 70 - Olivet 72 OT

Tonight's basketball game with Olivet is the best freshmen game Coach Low has ever seen. The score was 72-70, in overtime, with Olivet coming out on top. We were down once by 12 points and once by 11 points. Each time our 8 man roster battled back. We shot 44% from the floor and 62% from the free throw line. We had 28 rebounds, 14 steals and 4 blocks. Four players were in double figures. Marcus Cannon had 16, Ty"Quaivian Robinson and Raekwon Little 14, Vernard Whitehead 12. Dylan McFarlen had 9 points. RaeKwon and Dylan had 8 and 7 rebounds respectively. Marcus Cannon had 5 steals and RaeKwon 4. Dylan and Rae also had 2 blocks each. Coach Low can't wait until out next game Thursday, at home, against Berrien Springs

1-22 - Comstock 45 - Brandywine 33

The freshmen boys basketball team defeated Niles Brandywine 45-33 on Friday. The young Colts now improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Once again team play was the key to victory. We were whistled for 17 fouls with 5 players having 3 fouls each.Our strong bench rotation allowed us to play our game and stay consistent. Marcus Cannon and Ty'Quaivion Robinson lead us in rebounding. Ty and Raekwon Little lead us in steals with 3 each. The team had 16 steals with only 10 turnovers. Rae also had 4 blocks. We had 7 as a team with Brandon Willis having 2 and Noah Jackson 1. Noah played an excellent game coming off the bench to score 5 points, go 3/4 from the line to go with 2 steals and a rebound. Brandon Willis played very well in our 3 guard offense during the 4th quarter. Brandon Blades and Nick Rupe again played outstanding defense to give us a lift. Brandon was 2 for 2 from the free throw line at a crucial time.Raekwon Little lead us in scoring with 16 points followed by Vernard Whitehead's 10, Marcus had 7, Ty 4 and Brandon Willis 1 for 2 from the line. Dylan McFarlen played excellent defense shutting off the inside and hit the floor several times to come up with steals for us. We have 2 home games this week on Tuesday and Thursday against Olivet and Berrien Springs.

1-19 - Comstock 40 - Schoolcraft 8

The freshmen boys basketball team won their 4th game in a row, defeating Schoolcraft 40-8. Once again it was a total team victory with 7 of our 9 players scoring. This was the teams 3rd game in a row holding their opponent under 30 points. Coach Low is very pleased with the lock down defense the team is playing. The team now improves to 5-3 on the year. Marcus Cannon was our leading rebounder with 6 boards. Raekwon Little lead us in steals with 3 and also in blocks with 2. Vernard Whitehead lead us in scoring with 10 points and directed the offense flawlessly. Ty'Quaivion Robinson had 9 points and Dylan McFarlen 8 points. Branden Willis handled the ball very well against pressure. Brandon Blades had another fine game for us coming off the bench and playing all three positions at times. He has become a very valuable spark off the bench for us. Nick Rupe also played very well. Bryce Meach again played a good all around floor game for us. Our next game is Friday away at Niles Brandywine.

1-15 - Comstock 60 - Bridgman 28

The freshmen boys basketball team improved to 4-3 on the year with a victory against Bridgmen 60-28. Once again team play was the key as 8 out of our 9 players scored. For the 3rd game in a row we held the other teams bench scoreless and only allowed 4 Bridgmen players to score. The team is now shooting 43% from the floor and 63% from the free throw line. The team scored 25 baskets with 18 assists. Our scoring was the following: Raekwon Little 15, Ty'Quaivion Robinson and Dylan McFarlen 8, Bryce Meach 7, Brandon Willis and Marcus Cannon 6, Brandon Blades 4. Our next game is Tuesday away at Schoolcraft. Coach Low is very pleased with how the team is playing and playing together.

1-11 - Comstock 41 - Saugatuk 29

Comstock Freshmen boys basketball team won an exciting game with Saugatuk 41-29. With 3:30 remaining Comstock was up 30 to 27. Bryce Meach then made a key steal and scored. Vernard Whitehead made 5 of six freethrows and Raekwon Little went 2 for 2 at the line to seal the win. The young Colts are now 3-3 for the year having won 3 out of their last 4. They dropped their first 2 games of the year by a total of 3 points and have now learned how to win close games down the stretch. Comstock played short handed with only 8 players dressing with all 8 scoring and playing a rotation by subbing off the clock to keep fresh legs. Dylan Mcfarlen and Marcus Cannon were our leading rebounders with 7 apiece. Marcus had 4 steals and Bryce Meach 3. Raekwon Little had 10 points, Marcus Cannon 8 and Vernard Whitehead 7. Bryce Meach and Brandon Blades played very well off the bench scoring 5 and 4 points respectively. Our bench outscored Saugatuk 11-0.

1-7 - Comstock 43 - Parchment 36

The freshmen boys basketball team won an exciting game with Parchment last night 43-36, in overtime. Once again team play was the key as 9 players scored of the 10 who played. Parchment only had 4 players score. Coach Low was very pleased with the overall hustle throughout the game with no let down. Stat leaders were Dylan McFarlen with 6 rebounds. Vernard Whitehead and Raekwon Little each had 4 steals. Raekwon also had 3 blocks and scored 19 points. Vernard did an excellent job directing the offense to go with his 7 points. Bryce Meach was a perfect 4 for 4 from the freethrow line at crunch time. Brandon Willis once again had an excellent floor game to go with his 4 points and keep his blocked shot streak a live with another one last night. Marcus Cannon had a key basket and free throw in the overtime period. Ty Robinson had another solid game with 5 boards, solid defense to go with his 2 points. He held their best player scoreless in overtime. Noah Jackson did a nice job in the post with Dylan McFarlen. Nick Rupe made a key layup off a steal. Brandon Blades once again played great defense and ran the floor very well. We look forward to our next game Monday against Saugatuk.

12-17 - Comstock 53 - Buchanan 47

The freshmen boys basketball team played their best game of the year in defeating a very good Buchanan team 53-47. The team proved the old truth that good team play overcomes good individual play. The young Colts had 9 of their 10 players who saw action score. Only 3 players scored for Buchanan. We shot 44% as a team last night, 52% in the second half. The team had 32 rebounds last night with Dylan McFarlen and Marcus Cannon each having 7.Our bench outscored Buchanan 20-0! We also had 5 steals and 3 blocks. Vernard Whitehead had 3 steals and Ty Robinson, Bryce Meach and Dylan McFarlen each had a block. Our scoring was as follows: 10pts. Vernard Whitehead, 9pts. Marcus Cannon and Bryce Meach, 8pts. Raekwon Little and Ty Robinson, 4pts. Dylan McFarlen, 2pts.Brandon Blades and Nick Rupe, 1pt. Noah Jackson. We also shot 63% from the free throw line. We look forward to our next game January 5th against Kalamazoo Christian.

12-8 - Comstock 33 - Vicksburg 34

The freshmen boys basketball team played an inspired game against Vicksburg coming up just short against a bigger opponent. The score was 34-33 There were numerous lead changes through out the game with no team ever having more than a three point lead. The game came down to the final buzzer. Raekwon Little played an outstanding game with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. T'Quavion Robinson and Marcus Cannon played solid games with 7 points each. Marcus lead us in rebounds with 7 and T'Quavion had six. Coach Low was very pleased with the effort and saw a lot of positive things to build upon for the season.
