John Holms

John Holms

Comstock Teacher & Coach - 1983-09

John Holms was a physical education teacher and a coach at Comstock High School for 26 years. During this time he coached basketball for 10 years, golf for 22 years and tennis for 3 years. As a basketball coach, John was recognized as one of the most astute and well respected coaches in Southwest Michigan. His teams were always well coached, disciplined and successful. Among the young men that Coach Holms worked with and developed was Comstock Hall of Famer, Chris Crawford, former member of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. John was a man who took much pride in his program, was concerned about the character of his players and was always true to his strong values and principles. Yet with all of his coaching accolades, John’s greatest attribute is the outstanding person he continues to be. He is a loving husband, father and friend to many. One would be hard pressed to find another individual who epitomizes the role of outstanding teacher/coach as John Holms.
