Superintendent Announces Retirement

In an announcement to the Comstock Public Schools community, Superintendent Todd Mora shared his plans to retire at the end of the current school year.

In the statement, Mora said that he "wanted to make [the] announcement now so as to allow the Board and District ample time to conduct a search for a new superintendent."

Mr. Mora went on to say that during his 18 years with the district he has "been blessed to work with, and for, some of the best people [he has] ever known."  He credited the creation of the Comstock STEM Academy, the passage of the 2016 bond issue, and the district's move to become a Leader In Me district as highlights during his tenure as superintendent.

The Comstock Board of Education President, Dr. Brandy Brown, issued this statement on behalf of the board:

On Saturday, January 13th, 2018, Superintendent Todd Mora informed the Comstock Board of Education of his intent to retire at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. On behalf of the board, I want to thank Mr. Mora for his dedication and contributions to Comstock Public Schools.

Over his 18 years of steadfast service, Mr. Mora has molded every facet of the district. During his tenure, he maintained consistent financial stewardship and spearheaded a successful no-mill-increase bond issue, allowing us to improve our facilities and better serve current and future Colts. Moreover, he was instrumental in developing our district’s strategic plan which focuses on enhanced academics, technology, security, and communications. We look forward to continuing our work with him through the remainder of the school year and we wish him well as he begins this new chapter of his life.

Within the coming months, the Board will share our plan for conducting an extensive search for Mr. Mora’s successor. As part of this search, the Board welcomes input from members of the school community.

In the meantime, please join us in thanking Mr. Mora for his service.

The Board of Education will meet in the board room at 3010 Gull Road on January 27 at 9 a.m. for a special meeting to discuss the search for a new superintendent. This meeting, as always, is open to the public.
