Season Information

The season is wrapping up. After making a comeback tobeat Paw Paw in the District Semifinals, we dropped a dual to South Haven in the finals. It was the second time we've lost to them thisyear, but the third time we've beaten Paw Paw.It was our goal to win a district title this year and make it two in three years. We'll have to get back to work in the offseason if we are to make it two titles in four years. These are the things I'd like to see us focus on fornext season.

1) We need to work to improve in the offseason. We are going to enroll in the Extreme Training Program for this offseason. It will be hosted at Comstock High School presenting us with an outstanding opportunity to take our skills to the next level. We will workout Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 pm. We start early April and will continue for 25 weeks.

2) Weneed to make a commitment to our schoolwork.Gettingeligible and staying eligible is a basic expectation. We have too many athletes in our district not making the grades and getting into trouble. We must make this commitment if we are to become competitive on a consistent basis.

We finished the season earning two tournament trophies and a 13 winsas a team. This is an improvement from previous years and we need to continue to improve. The opportunities are there forour kidsto become better wrestlers and better students. We make committments to one another to do our part as coaches, parents, and student-athletes. We need to keep in mind the sacrifices that we make for one another and become selfless in our pursuit of our goals.

Zach Lewis earned a trip to the individual state tournament by finishing 3rd in his region. Hewent 1-2 beating his first opponent 11-9, then losing his next two matches to the eventual state champion and the5-3 to the eventual 5th place finisher. Zach finishes his career with 114 career wins and holds multiple records for Comstock. One of the records he set this year is the takedowns in a season.Good season and career,Zach!

The coaches at Olivet College are interested in Zach wrestling for them next season. We wish him luck with whatever choice he makes.

Other improvements we plan on making this offseason is to replace the old three section mat with a new Dollumar 7 section mat. We also plan on puchasing championship singlets for next season andcontinuing the improvements onour wrestling room.
