
Comstock is proud to announce the launch of the Innovation Institute, where learning goes beyond textbooks and into the realm of real-world exploration and discovery! Our educational program is built upon the principles of project-based learning (PBL), designed to empower students to become active, engaged learners who take ownership of their education.
During this 2-hour block, students will partake in classes created with an integrated curriculum. They will complete projects and activities that cover a wide range of topics. They will also be able to earn college credit through the AP environmental curriculum and test.

Dual Enrollment (DE)- WMU ECONOMICS IN OUR DAILY LIVES: ECON 1020

This course’s focus lies at the intersection of human decision-making, public policy analysis, and AI applications. Students will learn how the economic way of thinking can help us to understand how we make the decisions that we confront throughout our daily lives, and how that same style of thinking can help us to understand fundamental public policy issues. This course takes a hands-on, project-based approach to exploring economic principles and their applications in real-world scenarios. Throughout the course, students will collaborate, present their findings, and reflect on how economic thinking shapes our world. WMU

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT: MASTERING PERSONAL FINANCE

This course will introduce students to a variety of personal financial planning concepts that will enable them to be better prepared to make major financial lifetime decisions. Students will gain practical skills in budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding credit, all while learning how to navigate the professional world. Topics include financial planning for college and beyond, managing student loans, salary negotiation, understanding employee benefits, and career development strategies. Students will leverage AI-powered financial apps, robo-advisors, and predictive analytics to optimize their money management strategies. The course emphasizes decision-making, goal-setting, and soft skills that are critical for financial independence and long-term professional success. Students will leave equipped to make informed financial decisions, set and achieve career goals, and enter the workforce or post-secondary institution with confidence. WMU professors will instruct portions of this course.

This engaging, hands-on course introduces students to the fundamental principles of business and entrepreneurship through project-based learning. Students will explore key topics such as business planning, marketing, finance, management, and ethical decision-making by actively creating and managing their own simulated businesses or projects. Through interactive lessons, case studies, and collaborative projects, students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills essential for success in the modern economy.

DIGITAL MARKETING

In this Digital Marketing course, students will explore the dynamic world of online marketing and develop skills to create effective digital strategies. Students will learn key concepts like branding, social media marketing, content creation, email marketing, Search Engine Optimization, and data analysis, all tailored to reach specific audiences. Through hands-on projects, they will use various digital tools to design campaigns, analyze market trends, and measure results. By the end of the course, students will gain a foundational understanding of how digital marketing influences consumer behavior and drives business success, preparing them for future studies in business, marketing, or media.
