Coach Jimmy Cotter
2-28 - Comstock 34 - Plainwell 54
The JV boys fell to Plainwell last night by the score of 54-34. A lack of
energy was a serious problem for the shorthanded Colts. Brandon Willis played a
solid game playing good defense and scoring 7 points. Rae Little had a game high
10 points. The Colts finish the season Thursday at home against Hopkins.
2-23 - Comstock 63 - Brandywine 47
The JV boys secured a share of the BCS conference title on Friday night beating
Brandywine 63-47. After a back and forth first half the boys buckled down on the
defensive end in the second half and outscored Brandywine 21-7 in the fourth
quarter. Learning how to finish ball games has been a huge focus for this team,
and they responded to the challenge when they needed to most. Ty Robinson had
his best game of the year while scoring 12 points and playing strong defense.
Jared Plane led with a team high 15 points, while captains Rae Little and Adrian
White provided huge offensive lifts in a combined 23 points while also playing
outstanding defense on Brandywine's top two scorers. The team finishes out this
memorable 2016/2017 campaign against Plainwell on Tuesday and Hopkins on
Thursday, both at home. We hope to see you there!
2-13 - Comstock 56 - Paw Paw 43
The JV boys took down Paw Paw last night to earn a nice non-conference win.
Point guard Adrian White played another fantastic game leading his team
throughout all four quarters and scored 13 points. Jared Plane registered a game
high 14 points in breakout fashion, including 7 big 4th quarter points. Marcus
Cannon played big in the post securing a double-double with 12 points and 11
rebounds. Ty Robinson and Rae Little also played big minutes for the Colts, who
now move to 9-7 on the season. With a win at Bridgman on Friday the Colts secure
at least a share of the BCS league title.
2-9 - Comstock 45 - Parchment 35
The JV boys took down crosstown Parchment last night by the score of 45-35.
Tenacious defense set the tone in the first half as they took a 26-10 lead into
the locker room at halftime. Rae Little played inspiring defense against
Parchment's leading scorer, and Ty Robinson was tremendous on the glass. Adrian
White had one of his best games of the year leading the offense with 12 points
displaying incredible heart and leadership while playing all but 1 minute. The
Colts now move to 7-1 in the conference and will take on Paw Paw at home on
Monday. We hope to see you there!
2-2 - Comstock 50 - Buchanan 26
The Colts put together a complete team effort on Thursday night to knock off Buchanan by a score of 50-26. With a stellar defensive effort in all 4 quarters with energy from Rae Little, the Colts were able to turn their defense into offense with fast break points. Adrian White pushed the tempo and took care of the basketball in true leadership fashion. Jacob Wells and Marcus Cannon paced the offense with 12 and 11 points, with Brandon "BW" Willis chipping in 7 of his own. Ty Robinson played strong on the glass, while Bryce Meach and Brendon Blades also stepped up to the challenge and played strong defense. The Colts have now moved to 6-1 in the conference heading into the final month of the season.
1-18 - Comstock 40 - Buchanan 38
The JV boys
edge out a 40 to 38 win last night down in Buchanan. The Bucks were undefeated
on the season, and getting a win on their home floor took a team effort. The
boys were spectacular on the defensive end making adjustments and communicating
throughout the game. Adrian White's leadership again proved key, while also
leading the way in scoring with 9 points. The balanced scoring attack was also
supplemented with 8 points from Rae Little and 6 points from both Jacob Wells
and Ty Robinson. Bryce Meach also chipped in 6 while knocking down 2 huge second
half threes that propelled the Colts to victory. We now take our 4-0 conference
record on the road to Brandywine to fight for sole possession of first place in
the BCS.
1-12 - Comstock 44 - Bridgman 20
The JV boys took care of business on Thursday night against Bridgman earning a
44 to 20 win. The Colts brought the defensive intensity from the opening tip and
displayed strong rebounding against a very tall Bridgman team. After a slow
start offensively, the Colts began to pull away in the second half behind 12
points from Marcus Cannon and 10 points from Jacob Wells. Bryce Meach's sharp
shooting also provided a boost for the team. Adrian White continues to led his
team with strong leadership skills from the point guard position. The Colts look
to extend this three game winning streak as they shift their gears to a big
upcoming week.
1-10 - Comstock 51 - Bronson 24
The JV boys traveled to Bronson last night to earn a 51-24 victory. After a slow
start the Colts were able to speed up the game through stellar team defensive
efforts led by Adrian White and Brandon Willis. Rae Little paced the Colts
balanced scoring attack with a team high 13 points. Bryce Meach chipped in a
solid 8 points and Adrian White complimented with 7 of his own. Marcus Cannon
continued his rebounding tear and is improving in the post every game. The Colts
now shift their focus to Bridgeman who comes to town Thursday night. Come out
and support!
12-13 - Comstock Loss vs Gull Lake
The Colts struggled Tuesday in route to a 25 point loss at Gull Lake. The young
team did not play to their full potential and had trouble taking care of the
ball against an active Gull Lake defense. Jacob Wells and Ty Robinson provided a
combined 20 points for the Colts offense. The JV boys look to improve on the
team pillars of strong help defense, rebounding and limiting turnovers. While
disappointed with the performance, the Colts look to get right back to work with
a big game against Buchanan on Friday.
