2-15 - Comstock 17 - Kalamazoo Christian 46

The 7th Grade A Team girls took a step back in a 46-17 loss to a very talented Kalamazoo Christian squad. Despite key injuries and overall poor play, the Colts' aggressive defense kept themselves in the game throughout the first half, only trailing by 7 points at the break. The girls began to unravel in the 2nd half when Kalamazoo Christian took advantage of key mistakes and got hot. To the team's credit, lack of effort was never a problem throughout the collapse. Li'Zariah Lewis led Comstock with 7 points. The girls will respond to this loss with hard work and an increased focus to improve. Go Colts!

2-8 - Comstock 20 - Parchment 23

The 7th Grade A Team made a valiant comeback, late, before falling to Parchment, 23-20. The Colts really struggled to score the basketball despite getting many quality attempts throughout the entire contest. Their tough defense kept them in the game (against a solid team) despite their dismal shooting. Down by 8 going into the 4th quarter, Comstock got out of their scoring funk as they netted 14 points to make the game close (down the stretch). The girls will learn from the experience as they continue to grow as a team.

2-6 - Comstock 34 - Delton-Kellogg 15

The 7th Grade Girls A Team was absolutely stellar defensively against Delton in a 34-15 victory. The entire group played with great heart and intensity, holding their opponents to only 5 points through 3 quarters of play. The team also did a better job of protecting the ball in transition by making effective outlet passes off of steals and rebounds. Li'Zariah Lewis led all scorers with 12 points, while Jada Cook and Nevaeh McIntyre each added 6. Gianna Nathaniel, Kyla Owens and Megan Kendall were especially relentless on the defensive end with quick feet and active hands. Although the girls have yet to have a strong shooting performance, their hard work on both ends will continue to carry them throughout the season. Awesome job, Comstock!

2-1 - Comstock 40 - St. Monica 30

The 7th Grade A Team put enough positives together to earn their first victory of the season against St. Monica, 40-30. Li'Zariah Lewis had a stand-out game for the Colts, scoring a game-high 18 points. Kyla Owens also added 8. The girls will continue to work on playing with poise under pressure, as they committed far too many turnovers late in the game. Go Colts!

1-30 - Comstock 20 - Galesburg-Augusta 21

The 7th Grade A Team was edged out by Galesburg, 21-20 in a highly contested game. The Colts were very tough defensively and played with great effort at both ends of the court, but just made too many mistakes. Their passing and decision making while under pressure will be a primary focus for the team as the year continues. Nevaeh McIntyre, Kyla Owens, Kayla Berg and Li'Zariah Lewis paced the scoring for Comstock.

1-23 - Comstock 14 - Kalamazoo Christian 30

The 7th Grade Girls Basketball A Team learned a lot in their 14-30 loss to Kalamazoo Christian. Comstock was very tough defensively for most of the game, but allowed their opponents to go on two big runs late in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Down 22 points going into the 4th quarter, the girls showed a lot of heart as they continued to fight. They were able to close the gap a bit through great effort, holding Kalamazoo Christian scoreless. Li'Zariah Lewis and Gianna Nathaniel led the Colts in scoring with 5 points each. Comstock will continue to work hard on both ends of the court and the wins will come. Go Comstock!
