3-8 – District Final – Comstock 39 – Plainwell 47 OT
The girls basketball team finished their season with a tough loss to Plainwell. We led by as many as 13 in the 1st half before Plainwell’s press broke us down a bit. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 21 points and had 10 rebounds. She hit the game tying 3 pointer to send the game to OT but after the Colts scored the 1st bucket of OT, it was all Plainwell from there. Abby House finished the game with 14 points with four 3 pointers. I’m very proud of this senior group and our entire team for pushing through all these years of getting better and putting us in a position to compete. Congrats on a great season.
3-6 – District Semi Final – Comstock 60 – Thornapple-Kellogg 41
The Colts had a hot shooting night and played really good defense. Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 30 points and Abby House chipped in 17. Madelyn Caswell also had a strong performance with 8 points. The Colts put themselves in a position to win the school’s 1st district title since 2001.
2-26 – Comstock 71 – Parchment 26
The varsity girls basketball squad closed out their regular season with a win over Parchment 71-25. Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 28 points and 6 steals. Abby House had her best shooting night of the season finishing with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Jaime Jeffries also chipped in 9 points. The girls finished the regular season with a 16-4 record and are BCS Conference champions for the 3rd season in a row. They now head into districts next week on Wednesday at Otsego at 7:30pm to try and make a deep run in the tournament.
2-21 – Comstock 64 – Bridgman 29
The Colts locked up the Conference championship tonight with the win over Bridgman and sitting at 9-0 with 1 game to go. Daisy Ansel had 33 points, 8 steals and 5 assists in the win which put her now as the Comstock Career Scoring Leader with 1,633 points over Stacy Stanton’s 1,613 points she had in her career from 1988-91. Abby House also chipped in 9 points for the Colts.
2-19 – Comstock 50 – Otsego 62
The Colts had a tough run in with a good Otsego team which could be a district semi final match up in 2 weeks. Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 29 points and Abby House had 8 points.
2-16 – Comstock 65 – Buchanan 26
The Colts played back to back games for the 2nd time this year and came out victorious again vs Buchanan. Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 29 points but it is now back to back games that Madelyn Caswell scored in double figures with 10 points. Abby House also had 9 points for the Colts who look to continue to drive toward another conference championship.
2-15 – Comstock 69 – Berrien Springs 47
The Colts had a great shooting night at Berrien Springs with Daisy Ansel leading the way with 37 points but both Madelyn Caswell and Jaime Jeffries had their best shooting nights of the year with Madelyn scoring 13 points and Jaime chipping in 10.
2-12 – Comstock 71 – Paw Paw 31
Comstock beat Paw Paw 71-31 last night in girls basketball. Multiple girls had a great night for the Colts with Daisy Ansel leading the way with 45 points, 9 rebounds and 8 steals. Abby House did a spectacular job grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out 9 assists. Madelyn Caswell & Jaime Jeffries played tough defense and Gabrielle Langejans and Macy Cannon played well throughout the night.
2-8 – Comstock 41 – Brandywine 35
The varsity girls basketball team inched closer to another undefeated league season by beating Brandywine 41-35 on friday night. The Colts fought hard throughout with Daisy Ansel leading the way with 17 points and Abby House chipping in 9. Madelyn Caswell came up big on the boards with 9 of them. It became a 1 point game in the 4th quarter before Daisy got to the FT line to wrap things up by going 8/8 in the fourth quarter.
2-5 – Comstock 35 – Harper Creek 52
The varsity girls basketball team lost to Harper Creek last night 55-35. It was a tough night to get back going after 10 days off for the girls. Daisy Ansel had 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Madelyn Caswell ended up with 9 rebounds. They will try to get back on track with a big game on Friday vs Brandywine.
1-24 – Comstock 39 – Gull Lake 48
The Colts had their roughest shooting night of the year against Gull Lake and just couldn’t quite get the lead at any time in the game. Daisy Ansel was held to 12 points and Abby House had 11 points and Madelyn Caswell had 8.
1-17 – Comstock 56 – Bridgman 28
The varsity girls basketball team pushed their record to 10-1 after defeating Bridgman by a score of 56-28. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 24 points and Abby House had 12 points. Madelyn Caswell had another big rebounding game with 12 and Gabrielle Langejans had 6 points that included going 4/4 from the free throw line.
1-15 – Comstock 57 – Plainwell 41
The varsity girls basketball team pulled away in the 4th quarter to beat Plainwell 57-41. Madelyn Caswell had a career high 16 rebounds on the night. Daisy Ansel led the Colts in scoring with 43 points and also had 7 steals. Abby House had 9 points and 6 rebounds. Jaime Jeffries continues to play great defense.
1-11 – Comstock 70 – Parchment 41
The varsity girls basketball beat Parchment by a score of 70-41. Madelyn Caswell had her best game of the season with 9 points and 11 rebounds. Abby House also had a solid overall game with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Macy Cannon also chipped in 8 points and Jaime Jeffries continues to impress on the defensive end. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 34 points and 10 rebounds.
1-10 – Comstock 66 – Olivet 42
The varsity girls basketball team rebounded with a win over Olivet 66-42. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 37 points and had 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Abby House chipped in 12 points and had 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Madelyn Caswell had her best scoring output on the season with 7 points and also had 7 rebounds. Jaime Jeffries had another amazing defensive game and her hustle and effort are not going unnoticed.
1-8 – Comstock 45 – Kalamazoo Christian 56
The varsity girls basketball team experienced their first loss of the season by a score of 56-45 to Kalamazoo Christian. The girls experienced an all around bad shooting night which contributed to the overall score.
12-29 – Comstock 49 – Kent City 44
The varsity girls basketball team traveled to GVSU to play Division 3 State Ranked Kent City over Christmas Break and came away with a 49-44 victory. It was a great team effort to make this happen. Jaime Jeffries held an all state guard to just 13 points. Macy Cannon's mark only hit one 3 pointer on the night and that was all she got. Madelyn Caswell did a phenomenal job on playing help defense to help stop driving threats and hit a crucial 2 point basket with less than a minute to play to put us up by 3 points. Abby House drove through the night from a vacation to play without much rest and scored 8 points and made some excellent plays. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 27 points and 12 rebounds. She was double teamed throughout the entire night and found ways to shoot above 55% for the game. The team is now 6-0 and still working to reach their potential.
12-20 – Comstock 49 – Berrien Springs 33
The varsity girls basketball team moved their record to 5-0 with a 49-33 win over Berrien Springs. Madelyn Caswell continues to be very aggressive on the boards and grabbed 9 rebounds. Jaime Jeffries amped up her defense and had 5 steals. Abby House orchestrated everything well with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Daisy Ansel continued to play solid and led all scorers with 28 points and had 10 rebounds.
12-18 – Comstock 59 – Allegan 30
The Colts came out strong in the 1st half and defeated the Allegan Tigers for the Colt’s 5th win of the season. Daisy Ansel led the Colts with 37 points and set a new school record with 8 made 3’s in a game. Abby House had 12 points for the Colts.
12-13 – Comstock 58 – Brandywine 31
The varsity girls basketball team had an amazing showing last night vs Brandywine beating them 58-31 to start out the season with a 3-0 record. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 27 points and had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Abby House had another great game with 15 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Both Daisy and Abby hit 5 3's each and Macy Cannon had 2 and those 12 3's in a game broke the Comstock record for most 3's in a game. Madelyn Caswell did a great job grabbing 9 rebounds and had 6 assists. Kaitlynne Burns, Jaime Jeffries, Gabrielle Langejans and Kelsey Militzer all contributed in special ways as well.
12-7 – Comstock 68 – Buchanan 24
The varsity girls basketball team beat Buchanan on Friday night 69-24. Daisy Ansel had a record setting performance by scoring 45 points in the win to go along with 13 rebounds. The 45 points is the most in a game in school history breaking the 41 point record set in 1991 by Stacy Stanton. Abby House also had a big game scoring 16 points and had 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Madelyn Caswell and Jaime Jeffries did a great job on defense and it was fun to watch Kaitlynne Burns and Kelsey Militzer battle for rebounds.
12-4 – Comstock 57 – Vicksburg 36
The varsity girls basketball team started off the 18-19 season with a win over Vicksburg 57-36. Daisy Ansel led all scorers with 28 points and also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Abby house also had a great game with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The girls started off slow in the 1st quarter before getting things rolling. It was great to have the defensive effort by Jaime Jeffries and the great rebounding from Madelyn Caswell.
