Comstock 15 - Otsego 54
The wrestling team experienced the peaks and valleys of the world of sports last night. We defeated Dowagiac 54-17. In the victory, Zach Richards broke the Comstock High School record for takedowns in a season. The old record was 67 by Zach Lewis and Zach Richards earned his 3rd takedown of the match at the end of the 1st period and went on to earn five more takedowns on the night to bring his total to 73. In the second match of the night, your wrestling team was handed a 54-15 defeat at the hands of a very solid Otsego team. Highlights of the match included pins by Derrick Hostetler and Colton Connor and a one point decision win for Mike Derhammer. Facing some of Otsego's toughest state-ranked wrestlers, Jordan Phares and Zach Richards manned up and represented our wrestling team with competitive matches.

1-9 - Comstock 21 - Edwardsburg 52
The wrestling team split a pair of duals in Edwardsburg last night. We lost to a tough Edwardsburg team but received wins from David Hatfield, Jordan Phares, Tanner Phares, and Scott Young. We put a whoopin on Paw Paw 56-20. Going 2-0 for the Colts were Tanner Phares, Scott Young, and Jordan Phares. Zach Richards continued his pursuit of the Comstock takedown record getting 12 total takedowns in one night of competition; he has a total of 43 on the year.

Coloma Quad
12-19 - Comstock 63 - Berrien Springs 18
12-19 - Comstock 48 - Plainwell 24
The wrestling team did what they said they would do in winning back some respect for the Columbia and White. In conference action last night, we beat Berrien Springs 63-18 and Plainwell 48-24. The wrestlers were extremely focused and jumped out early on Berrien with wins from Mason Artz, Tanner Phares, and Anthony Jones. The rest of the Colts took it from there and ran with it. We fell behind early in the first three matches against Plainwell 12-0 through three hard fought matches. Unfortunately for Plainwell, Cody Bavin, Mike Derhammer, and Zach Richards pinned the next three Trojans to give Comstock an 18-12 lead they would not relinquish. Congratulate a Colt wrestler today ... they fought for you last night.
12-12 - Comstock 27 - Three Rivers 45
12-12 - Comstock 29 - Vicksburg 37
Last night the wrestling team dropped a pair of duals to Three Rivers and Vicksburg, 45-27 and 37-29 respectively. These were two hotly contested meets that could have gone either way and we let them slip. However, your Colts represented you well in their attitude and sportsmanship and are determined to right the ship as they face Berrien Springs and Plainwell next Wednesday. We would love to see you there to help get us focused to pound these conference foes.
