2-19 - MHSAA Individual Girls Regional

Brianne Doud wrestled tough in her first ever girls regional tournament ultimately falling short of making it to the state competition.  Jessica Hummel also had a hard fought day and lost in the blood round barely missing her chances of making it to the state tournament.

2-18 - MHSAA Individual Boys Regional

Jay Claxton had 2 very tough fought matches ultimately losing to a state placer and another wrestler who lost in the blood round.  Jay has come a long way over the season and luckily has one more year to attack the mats and come out victorious next year.

2-11 - MHSAA Individual Boys Districts

Jay places 3rd moving on to regional 3-1. Max fought hard going the full 6 Minutes in his match but losing both ending his season. Gabe also fought hard not getting pined and going the full 6 minutes in his match but lost both ending his season as well. Both were freshman. Titus won 1 in the first round and lost 2. Dale lost 2 by pin. Tie won 1 and lost 2 getting pin in the 3rd period in the consolation match. Westly lost in the in the first round by pin in the 3rd period by pin 0-1. Chris lost his first match by pin in the 1st period 0-1 ending his season.

2-8 - MHSAA Team Districts
Comstock 47 - Galesburg-Augusta 18
Comstock 18 - Mendon 51


Comstock went 1-1 on Wednesday night at Team districts win their first match against Galesburg 47 to 18 but lost against Mendon for the district title. Kamarea Johnson led the way with 2 victories winning both in the first minute.

2-4 - SW10 Conference Meet

Comstock wrestled tough matches at conference only placing 2 on Saturday Jay Claxton placed 2nd and Kamarea placed 3rd.  Ultimately as a team we placed 8th in the competition.

2-1 - Comstock 11 - Centreville 60
2-1 - Comstock 0 - White Pigeon 84


On Wednesday night Comstock went 0-2 competing against Centerville first and then the Conference Champions White Pigeon.  Jay Claxton, Kamarea Johnson, and Anton White all going 1 – 1.

1-28 - Buchanan Super Dual

On Saturday Comstock went 2-2. Losing to Buchanan 42-36 which was a huge improvement from the 50 point loss to them earlier in the year.  We were also able to squeak out a victory against Brons’s B team.  Jay Claxton and Kamarea both went 3-1 during the Super dual.

1-25 - Comstock 17 - Bangor 60
1-25 - Comstock 18 - Decatur 47


On Wednesday night Comstock went 1-1 beating Cassopolis and losing to Decatur. Kamerea Johnson went 2-0 that night.

1-20 - Comstock Individual Tournament

Comstock’s Friday night tournament is always a tough one.  This year we didn’t have any placers but lost some really close matches on the night.

1-18 - Comstock 12 - Hartford 72

Wednesday night Comstock went 1-1 losing to a very tough Hartford team that took 2nd at conference and winning the against Lawrence. With Anton White going 2- 0 for the night

1-11 - Comstock 18 - Mendon 42
1-11 - Comstock 42 - Marcellus 24


Comstock went 1-1 on Wednesday. Getting a victory over Marcellus and losing to conference rival Mendon.  Wesley Boland went 2-0 pinning both of his opponents.  Jessica Hummel also went 2-0 on the day.

Comstock on Saturday went 1-4 fighting hard. Comstock got their first Victory of the season against Colon. With Jay Claxton going 4-1 on the day.

12-28 - Comstock Varsity Individual Tournament

This Wednesday on December 28th the Comstock Colts wrestling team hosted their annual Horseshoe Classic Holiday wrestling tournament.   This was the first time that a wrestling tournament was conducted directly through trackwrestling.com.  Track wrestling is the website that MHSAA uses to keep accurate records of all wrestling matches with the state.   It was a great tournament  hosting a total of 16 teams of various sizes and divisions.   Comstock wrestled some great matches and fought very hard for being south a young squad.   We ultimately placed 2 wrestlers on the day with Stanley Young taking 3rd place and Jaylen Claxton taking 5th place in their perspective weight classes.

12-21 - Comstock 36 - Bloomingdale 27


Comstock wrestling went 1-1 on the night at Bangor.  We lost to Bangor in a hard fought match but beat Bloomingdale.  Going 2-0 on the night was Titus Moore and Stanley Young.


12-17 - Gull Lake Invitational

On Saturday Comstock went 0-5 facing 3 State Qualifying teams for multiple divisions and having the most wins Against Plainwell’s B Squad.  The Gull Lake Invite is one of the toughest of the year and the whole team wrestled extremely hard.

12-14 - Comstock 12 - Buchanan 42
12-14 - Comstock 0 - Bronson 84


Comstock Wrestled hard but ended up 0-2. Wrestling against a very well established Bronson team and a good Buchanan squad coming off of a good year in 2022.  The team is still young and has a ton of potential for this season.

12-10 - Galesburg-Augusta Individual Tournament

Saturday Comstock placed 8th as a team.  Jay Claxton took 2nd place at 215.  The tournament was ran pretty slow but everybody stayed positive and wrestled really tough.

Comstock varsity wrestling squad went 1-1 on the night with some very hard caught matches.  Winning against colon 42-30 and losing to Mttawan 24-51.  Going 2-0 on the night were Harry Chandler and Jay Claxton.
