MS Girls Club Soccer

5-18 - Comstock 3 - Coloma 0

We thought this was going to be a very difficult game for us.  We told the girls that they all needed to play there best if they wanted to win this game and they all certainly did.  Sophie Kokales scored early on in the game.  Olivia Troff scored 2 in second half for her first goals for the team.  Every single girl played well and the best of the season.  As Jason would say they all "left it on the field"  All the girls were stepping to the ball, passing extremely well and playing as a team.  Nadia Dyer and Mckenzie moore played there best games of the season.  Faith Hubbard and Lauren Bonds played well and with great heart.  All of the girls on this team have really "bonded" with themselves and the coaches.  I think this made a huge difference in our season.  We end the season with 9 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss.  This leaves us in 3rd place overall in the standings out of 27 teams.  What a great year!

5-14 - Comstock 0 - Fennville 0

Fennville had a good defense that we just couldn't seem to get through.  Our girls did good today with being aggressive and stepping to the ball as well as trying hard. Audrey Douglas played well on defense.  Angel Bell had two headers and a shot on goal and Lauren Bonds gave a good effort.

5-8 - Comstock 2 - Vicksburg C 1

The girls soccer team had a 2 to 1 victory over Vicksburg C.  We were pretty evenly matched through the whole game.  Emily Veenhuis scored around 13 minutes in and then again on a penalty kick.  We had some issues today with the middle being open and the girl's not going to the ball.  We were able to hold them though with good effort from Shay Cleveland and Angel Bell.  Our defense was put to the test several times but Taylor James and Emily Veenhuis held strong and kept us in the game.

5-4 - Comstock 3 - Mattawan Golf 0

We played Mattawan Gold at Mattawan today.  It was a tough first half with us being evenly matched.  A switch was turned on with our girls right after half time. Taylor James came right out and scored a goal followed right behind with a goal from Emily Veehuis.  Our third goal scored by Sophie Kokales came 3 minutes after that.  Our girls controlled the rest of the game and played very well.  Angie Baez had several opportunities for a goal.  Sammy Huffstutter played one of her best games as our mid and Kierra lovelace again played great on defense.  The girls have exceeded all expectations by now having a 7 win 1 tie and 1 loss record.  Go Comstock!!

5-1 - Comstock 5 - Irish II 0

The Irish gave us a bit of a struggle at the beginning but we started really taking over the game.  Taylor James had a great low corner shot, Angel Bell scored her first goal and Audrey Douglas decided to pull off a Hat trick today with 3 goals.   Today there was a lot of calling for the ball and talking such as "I got ball" and "you got me".  The teams ball skills are really coming around.  They are starting to use moves, dribbling better and there passing is getting much better as well.

4-30 - Comstock 5 - Vicksburg B 1

Comstock dominated the whole game.  The weather was a bit of an obstical with rain and huge puddles on the field but Taylor James, Sophie Kokales and Emily Veenhuis all pulled out goals for a victory.  All of our players had fun playing in different positions later on in the game.  Shay Cleveland and Lissa Weaver both had good effort.  Nadia Dyer showed off a couple of her new moves she learned.

4-25 - Comstock 3 - Delton 0

All the girls played very well, dominating the whole game.  Our first goal was scored by Brianna Salome.  Taylor James scored on a penalty kick and Natalie Russell scored her first goal ever.  A lot of good team work today with many girls starting to use Ariel play.  Angel Bell had a couple of scoring opportunitys that just barely missed the net.  Faith Hubbard had a good game in defense and mid.  McKenzie Moore used ariel play and attracted the ball well.  The girls are getting better with every game and really playing like a team. It's getting harder and harder to just pick a few girls to mention when there is so many doing well each game.  Keep up the good work!

4-23 - Comstock 2 - Lawton 1

Beat undefeated Lawton today 2 to 1.  Came out pretty early with a goal from Taylor James.  They answered with a goal of there own.  Both teams worked hard and finally in the start of second half Callie James came in for a rebound goal.  Our girls did very well playing as a team today, staying spread out and passing the ball.   Emily Veenhuis was the backbone of the defense and led them to excellence.  Angie Baez  and Nadia Dyer gave excellent effort in midfield.  The team is really coming around and they should be very proud of their hard word.

4-20 - Comstock 4 - Kalamazoo Irish II 1

We beat Kalamazoo Irish 2 today with a score of 4 to 1.  We had a slow start this game and the Irish took advantage of that by scoring very early on in the game.  They were using one player as their "go to girl" so we shut her down by putting on Taylor James to guard her.  After that we were able to score our first goal by Sophie Kokales.  Then we took control of the game and started playing very well. Our second goal was scored by Callie James on a rebound.  We then dominated the rest of the game allowing Emily Veenhuis to get our last 2 goals.  Sammy Huffstutter played very well today allowing us to get scoring opportunities and Kierra Lovelace was unstoppable on defense.  Great Game Girls!

4-16 - Comstock 0 - Allegan 4

Allegan was a bigger and more advanced team but we played hard. Our goal keepers Brianna Salome and Callie James each made great saves to keep us in the game.  Lissa Weaver had heart, gave good effort and is improving every game.  We made great strides this game by staying spread out and in our positions.

4-13 - Comstock 1 - St. Joseph 1

The Comstock ladies scored early on with a goal from Tayor James.  We held them strong till Second half when they tied it up.  It was a hard fought battle and the teams were pretty evenly matched.  Kierra Lovelace played well in both forward and defensive positions.  Miranda Cannon and Sophie Kokales held strong as mid and forwards trying to get us additional points.

4-11 - Comstock 3 - Delton 0

Callie James scored the first 7 minutes into the game and Taylor James scored 5 minutes later.  Brianna Salome scored in the second half. Lauren Bonds gave a good performance with a couple of shots on goal and Natalie Russell gave a great effort for her first ever game.  Audrey Douglas led our defense to a shut out.
