The Comstock Stampede 5th Grade Basketball Team placed 2nd this past weekend in Jackson. They lost a heartbreaker in their first game to CCE, 24-25. Kierra Garrett scored 14 and Brynne Johnson added 10. The girls bounced back in their second game against Portland, winning 18-5. Kierra Garrett scored 12 in the victory. Jessica Sively and Madison Morse played very hard defense throughout the game. In the team's final contest, Comstock defeated Mason 24-13. Keirra Garrett led the team in scoring with 16 points. Brynne Johnson and Kelci Wilson-Abrams chipped in with 6 and 2, respectively. Good job girls."
 
Hillsdale Tournament

The 5th grade girls Stampede Basketball Team finished 1-2 over the weekend in Hillsdale.  Playing very shorthanded throughout the entire tournament, the girls dropped their first game to Fort Wayne, 50-14. Comstock battled hard to keep it close (for much of the game) against a very good team, but ran out of gas in the second half. Brynne Johnson was the leading scorer with 10 points.  In the second game the Stampede lost a nail-biter to Bronson, 22-18. Brynne Johnson scored 16 in the loss. Kelci Wilson-Abrams contributed some great defense and huge blocks.  Comstock finally put everything together in their 3rd game as they rolled over Athens, 28-8. The team played excellent defense throughout in one of their best performances of the year. Johnson was the leading scorer with 20. Madison Morse and Jessica Sivley also had huge buckets in the win!

The 5th Grade Girls Stampede Basketball Team placed 2nd at this past weekend's MCC Basketball Tournament, finishing the tournament with a 2-1 record. The girls dropped their first game to Freemont, 34-25. Jessica Sively and Brynne Johnson played great defense in the hard-fought defeat.  The Stampede bounced back in the second game beating Tecumseh 36-12. Kierra Garrett led the way with 22 points and Brynne Johnson pitched in with 10. Kelci Wilson-Abrams also had some big rebounds and sweet passes in the win.  In the final game of the day, Comstock soundly beat a good team in HH Schools. Kierra Garrett scored 14 and Brynne Johnson added 12 as the Stamped rolled, 32-20. Johnson also did a great job on defense in shutting down the opposing team's best player throughout the majority of the game. Madison Morse and Jessica Sively showed a lot of heart and played their best games of the season to date.

The 5th Grade Girls Stampede Basketball Team won all three games that they played at this weekend's tournament as they earned 1st place.  The Stampede defeated Hudson in their first game, 29-12. Kierra Garrett led the way with 23 points. Kelci Wilson-Abrams played some great defense and made some excellent passes.  In the second game Comstock routed Athens 36-4. Madison Morse and Jessica Sively had awesome games on the defensive end. Kierra Garrett was the top scorer with 30 points and Brynne Johnson chipped in with 6, respectively.  In the hard-fought final game of the day, the Stampede beat Addison 33-22 to win the tournament. The team once again played solid defense and was led in scoring by Kierra Garrett with 22 points.

The game came down to the end where Kierra Garrett made some big shots. Ceirra Jackson made some great passes and Madison Morse played some great defense. Kelci Wilson-Abrams also added 6 points.

11-17 - Comstock 46 - Portage Northern 11

The girls played against Portage Northern and won 46-11. Jess Sivley had 3 steals, Ceirra had 12 points and 5 steals, and Kierra Garrett added 30 points. The team played well and had several offensive rebounds.

11-10 - Comstock 46 - Otsego 26

Kierra Garrett scored 34, Madison Overholts grabbed some rebounds and Jess Sivley played excellent defense. 

11-10 - Comstock 66 - Delton 25

Kierra Garrett had 42, Brynne Johnson had 12 and Kelci Wilson Abrams had 11.

11-3 - Comstock 48 - Vicksburg 30 

This was a close game at halftime 18-16. The team ran the fast break well, and they did a great job crashing the boards grabbing several offensive rebounds. Kierra Garrett led all scorers with 32 points, Brynne Johnson added 8, Kelci Wilson-Abrams grabbed 5 offensive rebounds, and Ceirra Jackson/Jess Sivley played tough defense.

10-27 - Comstock 34 - Pennfield 32

The second game came down to the last minutes as well. Kierra Garrett scored 26 points, Brynne Johnson scored 4. Ceirra played great defense, and made several hustle plays.

10-20 - Comstock 28 - Lakeview 30

This was a hard fought game and it came down to the last minutes where Lakeview made more plays and ended up winning 30-28. Kierra Garrett and Brynne Johnson had 8 points and Teja Dockins played tough defense.
